The government will offer a safe e-mail service to all its administrators for safe communication, an official statement claimed to the media this week.
“In harmony with the government’s email policy, an email id will be allocated to all officials of the government at the state and center via National Informatics Centre,” claimed the statement. It claimed that the main motive behind the strategy was government information that resides outside India on servers and on servers further than the management of the Government of India.
The statement also stated that it will be the biggest service of its type for the government with a subscriber base of almost 5 Million. It will have improved mechanisms of security authentication for users with device mapping and geo-fencing. Centralized architecture for email throughout the government might make the procedure of guarantying a vigorous mechanism of security for government information, the statement claimed.
It will have “chief domain as ‘@gov.in’ and a pipeline to comprise local domain and languages,” the statement claimed. This service will elevate the output and turn out to be a step towards the “Green Government” as the entire communication of administrators will be carried out using email, added the statement.
The government is also designing a tech to get rid of chances of communication leak from mobile phones of officials. This data was given by an administrator from the Ministry of Electronics and IT to the media in an interview.
“Devices have turned out to be a source from where opportunities of spying have elevated. Mobile handsets are most exposed and even set-top boxes can be risked. For handsets, the government is designing a solution to avoid unauthorized admission to data of government administrators,” an official source claimed to the media in an interview.
He claimed that the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing located in Hyderabad has been operating on expects and technology to conclude the project shortly. “The issue is India does not include its OS. Consequently, there are hesitations that mobile data may be leaking. There have been various incidents as well where hackers have taken power over handsets to get data of officers,” the source further added to his statement.
