It is the age of innovation and the greater part of development is inclined towards the automobile sector. A former start-up Elsys Intelligent Devices incubated by Kerala Startup Mission has designed, deployed, and produced an innovative gadget that converts normal automobile into a safe, smart, and connected car. The device was launched last week.
This smart device is compatible with almost every car that exists in India with easy to install functionality.
The SafeDrive devices come with a complete package. This includes GPS module, speaker, cellular connectivity, crash sensors, and microphone. It also provides an “In-Vehicle Emergency Call” feature that automatically alerts the rescue center in the cases of severe accidents. The device also operates in the event when the passenger cannot respond owing to shock or injury.
Loknath Behera, Kerala Police chief, at the time of device launch, talked about the awareness and augmented focus on mobility safety innovations as more than 2000 people lost their lives in accidents in the first half of the present year.
He also affirmed that the Kerala Police will give its best to make the traffic safety rules obligatory, but it is citizen’s duty to take the responsibility to avoid accidents. Rule implementation will fruitful only if merged with awareness. The government doesn’t issue a driving license to kill.
Coming on the gadget, in the scenario of intense impact, SafeDrive starts a voice call and transfers a set of data that includes speed of vehicles and precise location of the vehicle.
This facilitates the emergency center to take over the situation, communicate with the victims, convey the details to the friends and families, and deploy immediate emergency assistance.
Some of the other features equipped in the device comprise hands-free two-way calling, smart alerts, trip history, one-touch assistance button, driving analysis, and live vehicle tracking.
Elsy’s co-founder and CEO Prasad Pillai said, “As the country is rapidly heading towards futuristic self-driving and connected cars, we are keeping our network up to date with mandatory and essential services to keep the future cars modernized and geared up.”
The company is also approaching automakers, insurance providers, law enforcement agencies, and road transport entities to extend this network to a maximum number of people.
